Communication Arts 2025 Design Winners
A table is more than a piece of furniture—it holds memories, connections, and the flow of everyday life. It can be a space for resistance, a symbol of achievement, or a metaphor for opportunity.
Inspired by the modular structure of tables—where components are inserted, rearranged, and assembled—this project transforms typography into a spatial, tactile experience. I designed a typeface with interlocking inserts that allow letters to be physically built into sculptural words. For example, the word “TABLE” becomes an actual standing table, merging language with function.
Behind the installation, a series of screen-printed type specimen posters showcases the typeface’s bold, abstract forms and versatility. These prints offer playful, graphic examples of how the letterforms can be composed into patterns, structures, and typographic expressions, inviting viewers to engage with type not only as a visual language, but also as a material object.
